Vacancies: Programme Officer - Empowerment of Migrant Workers / Spouses Living with HIV/AIDS
CARAM Asia is a regional organisation working on migration and health issues. The Secretariat in Kuala Lumpur is expanding and is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the following position of Program Officer-Empowerment of Migrant Workers/Spouses Living with HIV.
The Empowerment of Migrant Workers/Spouses Living with HIV program aims at building the capacity and strengthening the participation of migrant communities. The objectives of the program include:
  • To enable migrant workers/ spouses living with HIV to be meaningfully involved in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes and policies addressing HIV/AIDS and migration issues - using the Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV/AIDS (GIPA) concepts.
  • To address discrimination and stigmatization of migrants and spouses living with HIV/AIDS at the regional level.
  • To “facilitate” access to reintegration programs, especial treatment, care and support for migrant workers and spouses living with HIV/AIDS.
Criteria and skills:

  • Substantial experience working on the ground and networking with migrant communities, people living with HIV/ AIDS and different organisations working on HIV/AIDS. 
  • Regional perspectives on migration and HIV/AIDS necessary. Team player and ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Have good interpersonal skills, diligent, open minded, dedicated and must be able to work independently.
  • Ability to keep to tight deadlines and possess strong organisational skills.
  • Fully competent in English with proven excellent communication skills.
  
Job Scope:

  • Ability to undertake direct planning, implementation and coordination of program projects including capacity building programs and other related activities for such vulnerable groups both at country and regional level.
  • Work on linking issues of migration and HIV/AIDS within the broader context of globalisation for future capacity building and advocacy work. 
  • Assist in facilitating sessions and capacity building workshops on GIPA and other principles.
  • Assist in introducing and ensuring GIPA principles and standards are integrated and implemented in the CARAM Asia network.
  • Provide regular updates on the progress of the projects through submission of periodic reports, and adhering to mechanisms at the secretariat.
